«Guy Bennett: Fame or infamy, what does it matter? I shan't be forgotten»

What:
Another Country
Who:
Marek Kanievska (D), Julian Mitchell (S)
With:
Rupert Everett, Colin Firth
When:
1984
Where:
UK
How:
Characters, colour, live action, medium, reality, slow
Why:
How can you reconcile your privileged status of an elite private school (Eton) student with your communist political views?
And what if you are a homosexual communist, with an upper-class demeanor, at Eton, in the Thirties?
EXTRAS:
1- It recounts, if slightly romanticized, the boarding school years of Guy Burgess (Bennett in the film), who became a spy for the Soviets, later at Cambridge. If you're interested in his story, I suggest BBC's 2003 mini-series "Cambridge Spies", with an outstanding Tom Hollander as Guy Burgess.
2- Julian Mitchell, before the film, wrote the theatre play "Another Country". In its first run in the East End, it featured Rupert Everett and Kenneth Branagh.
